Ras VisualArt is an Italian photographer and filmmaker whose work is driven by a fascination for raw imagery, strong atmospheres, and stories that feel authentic rather than constructed.
Working across both photography and film, Ras combines digital and analog processes to create visuals with a distinctive cinematic language — one shaped by the intensity of live music, underground culture, and a deep appreciation for the imperfections and character of old-school imagery. His approach goes beyond simply documenting what happens in front of the camera: every image is built to capture an atmosphere, a feeling, and a sense of place.
His experience in the international music scene includes photographing some of the biggest names in heavy music at Wacken Open Air, including Iron Maiden, Slipknot, Machine Head, Sepultura, Dimmu Borgir, Arch Enemy, Mayhem, Behemoth, Accept, Emperor, Architects, Spiritbox, Motionless in White, Lacuna Coil, Lake Malice, Ankor, Eiwär, and Electric Bassboy.
Alongside his work in music, Ras has collaborated with independent cultural and creative projects, including the Piemonte Documenteur Film Fest, bringing the same visual sensitivity developed in live environments into film, documentary, and contemporary storytelling.
Whether working in the middle of a festival crowd, on a film set, or in a carefully constructed visual production, Ras approaches each project with the same idea: don’t just show what happened make people feel like they were there.
